Why did we change Shock Therapy?

The old Shock Therapy was a venerable and value-driven pre-workout that was launched several years ago. Then, as now, it was an effective and full-feature pre-workout pump and energy product. However, we believed we could make the product better in every single aspect, from the formula to the flavor. Flavoring systems, and our ability to product great-tasting products, have improved tremendously in those years. We wanted to bring to bear these new technologies into an all-new and completely revamped formula–full of proven and patented ingredients– for dedicated lifters.

How is this different from the old version of Shock Therapy?

This is an all-new, radically overhauled formula and completely redesigned flavoring system. This is not a simple facelift or a minor update. Newer cutting-edge and patented ingredients were added to make this a more powerful and complete pre-workout product. What you’ll notice immediately, as you take the new Shock Therapy, is the amazing new flavors. Unlike other pre-workouts on the market, this new formula is delicious–something that you can sip slowly and savor. Shock Therapy is the only pre-workout on the market that you'll actually look forward to drinking as it's refreshing, powerful and delicious.

How can I tell I bought the new Shock Therapy?

The flavors are all new, for starters. So if you bought one of these, you’re good to go: Clyde’s Hard Lemonade, Hawaiian Pump, or Grape Ape. Also, if your label says 1.85 lb, you’ve got the new stuff (the old bottles were about 2.3 lb in size). Anything that comes in a 200g bottle is also brand new.

What makes Shock Therapy different from other pre-workouts?

Shock Therapy is complete, comprehensive and all-in-one. There is no need to buy a separate creatine, BCAA, “pump”, energy/drive, antioxidant, performance and endurance supplement. They are all provided for in a single serving of Shock Therapy. Perhaps just as importantly, the new Shock Therapy tastes unreal.

What is the difference between Shock Therapy and Animal Rage? Animal Pump?

All three are typically take before the workout. Animal Pump is primarily a pump product with mild stims/focus agents to boost performance. Animal Rage is a concentrated pre-workout for intense energy and focus – it does not contain creatine or “pump” ingredients. Think of Animal Rage as a PR in a can, great for max effort workouts and powerlifting meets. Shock Therapy, on the other hand, is better suited for general lifters and bodybuilders who value the pump above all else and want to maximize muscle size and shape. Essentially, stacking Animal Pump and Rage together would be comparable overall to Shock Therapy in terms of benefits.

Can I stack Shock Therapy with other stim-based pre-workouts?

No. Shock Therapy is plenty powerful and all that you need.

Does Shock Therapy contain 1,3 Dimethylamylamine (DMAA)?

No. We do not include DMAA in any of our formulations due to its track record. Also, DMAA is banned by many athletic federations.

Does Shock Therapy have a full daily dose of creatine?

Yes. When you take Shock Therapy, you do not need additional creatine that day. On off days, when you are not taking Shock Therapy, you can take Universal's Creatine Powder or Storm

Should I shake or stir Shock Therapy?

Either is fine. Mixing in a shaker cup will provide a better taste profile however.

How much water should I add?

We recommend 8-10 oz per scoop. However, the final amount depends on your taste. Feel free to add/subtract water for the perfect flavor. The amount of water will not impact the benefits of Shock Therapy.

Is it true Shock Therapy has many patented ingredients?

Why are branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) included in Shock Therapy?

BCAA have been studied extensively for their dual anabolic and anti-catabolic activities and are very beneficial, pre-workout. BCAA are anabolic because of their ability to significantly increase protein synthesis, facilitate the increase in hormones such as growth hormone, IGF-1 and insulin, and also help to maintain a favorable testosterone to cortisol ratio. Now on the anti-catabolic side, BCAA can help prevent protein breakdown and muscle loss. Serious bodybuilders and athletes, especially those who train hard and follow strict dieting protocols, have a greater need for BCAA than those who do not.

How much caffeine is in Shock Therapy?

Shock Therapy contains caffeine anhydrous and other natural sources of caffeine. Each scoop is the equivalent of roughly two strong cups of coffee. For two scoops, twice that amount, naturally.

Should I take one or two scoops of Shock Therapy?

This is a highly individualized question based on various factors such as bodyweight, personal stimulant tolerance, experience, etc. We recommend one scoop for those that are under 200 lb. and two scoops for those over 200 lb. (or if you have a higher stimulant tolerance). As always, initially start with a lower dose to assess your own personal tolerance. If you have never used a pre-workout before, you may even need to start with ½ scoop.

Pre-workouts are usually nasty tasting. Is it the same with Shock Therapy?

Absolutely not. We went to great lengths to ensure that the taste would rival the benefits, and spent many months just working on the flavors and comparing them to all the other pre-workouts on the market. Taste is, without a doubt, a strong point with the new Shock Therapy. Whether you choose Clyde’s Hard Lemonade, Hawaiian Pump, or Grape Ape, we are sure you won’t be disappointed. 

What can I expect from taking Shock Therapy?

First, you will notice the great taste – you won’t have to throw back this mixture quickly or hold your nose. After a short while, you will feel a steady, clean source of energy. You will notice increased drive and focus and motivation. Once you hit the iron, you will experience greatly enhanced “pumps”, as your muscles fill with blood, oxygen and nutrients. These pumps have been reported by some to remain well after the workout. 

Can I take Shock Therapy when bulking, maintaining, or cutting?

Yes to all three. Shock Therapy is perfect for anyone serious about lifting, regardless of one’s goals. And with zero sugar and only 20 calories per serving, you can easily fit Shock Therapy into your diet.

What other products stack well with Shock Therapy?

Shock Therapy stacks well with Storm and Torrent. For example, take Shock Therapy pre-workout and follow it up with Torrent post-workout. And while Shock Therapy is loaded with BCAAs, for those who want more BCAAs during the workout, you can sip on Atomic 7, no problems. On off days, you can use Storm to get your daily dose of creatine and other nutrients.

Should I cycle Shock Therapy?

It’s always a good idea to take a break from stimulants from time to time. Before starting Shock Therapy, we recommend taking a few weeks off from other stim-based supplements. After 2-3 months of continuous use, we also recommend taking at least 2 weeks off from Shock Therapy use. Once again, the exact timing is highly individualized, based on many variables. 

Is it true that Clyde’s Hard Lemonade was named after the founder of Universal?

Yes.
