The Anytime Protein!
“Anytime”. Just hearing that word makes you think convenience. In this busy world of ours, who doesn’t feel comfort in things that are easy to use? That’s what we had in mind when we formulated our newest protein formula, Proton 7. Proton 7 was created with one simple goal: To be used anytime. When you need it, you can use it--morning, afternoon, post-workout, nighttime, whenever. With Proton 7, there’s no second-guessing if you’re stacking the right proteins together or using the right type of protein for the right time of day.
How does Proton 7 do this? Well, Proton 7 isn’t specialized–it’s certainly not a one trick pony. You see, Proton 7 doesn’t contain a “fast” protein; it doesn’t contain a slow protein; it doesn’t contain a protein that should only be used after lifting. Instead, Proton 7 contains a unique Protein Matrix consisting of a 3-stage blend of premium fast, medium and slow proteins. With Proton 7, you get a strategically formulated powder that is jam packed with 7 key sources of protein.
The Proton 7 Protein Matrix blend kicks off with the quickest of all proteins, whey protein. Whey protein can kick start protein synthesis and help build muscle like no other. In Proton 7, you get super-fast whey protein hydrolysates (WPH), quality whey protein concentrate (WPC) and the purest whey protein isolate (WPI). When it comes to absorption and assimilation, it doesn’t get faster than hydrolysates. WPH undergoes the greatest degree of processing of all whey protein versions. Normally you think of extra processing as a bad thing, but in the case of WPH, it’s a good thing. The extra hydrolysis helps to yield small whey peptide fragments that are the quickest for the body to absorb.
The classic standby is next, whey protein concentrate. This is the most popular and most proven form of whey protein. Time tested, consumer approved, whey protein concentrate is the standard, the cast iron skillet of the protein world. WPC is extremely well balanced and highly versatile. WPC is high in iprotein and also contains natural immune-boosting ingredients such as lactoferrin and immunoglobulins.
Rounding things out is whey protein isolate. Of all the forms, WPI is the cleanest, purest and highest in total protein content yield. So, on a gram per gram basis, WPI yields the most quality protein (90%+). You can think of it as WPC, but further purified to remove any excess mineral, lactose and material that is not related to the whey protein component. Of course, WPI comes at a price premium.
Now let’s move on to the “intermediate” proteins. Proton 7 contains egg albumen and calcium caseinate. Egg albumen is essentially egg white protein, which has long been a staple of bodybuilders. Egg albumen is digested and absorbed in the body slower than whey protein and is considered a more medium release protein. Egg is highly prized, both as a food and as a protein source for lifters. Stripped of fat, cholesterol, and lactose-free, egg is a great all around choice.
Calcium caseinate is also part of this intermediate protein release process as it isn’t as sustained and slowly released as pure micellar casein but, because of extra processing, provides the same amino acid profile. So after the whey protein is already absorbed, kicking off muscle protein synthesis and anabolism, egg protein and calcium caseinate will be still releasing amino acids into the bloodstream, thus helping to put the body in an anti-catabolic state.
Finally, we turn to the slowest proteins. They say slow and steady win the race and this is certainly true for the next two proteins! Here we include milk protein concentrate (MPC) and the standard-bearer, micellar casein (MC). MPC contains the same balance of casein and whey proteins as found in milk. But with MPC, you get the protein benefits of milk without the excess fat, carbohydrates, and lactose. MPC is roughly composed of 80% casein, in the micellar form, and 20% whey protein. MPC also retains the highly beneficial naturally occurring minerals calcium, phosphorous, potassium and magnesium. Because MPC contains some whey in addition to micellar, it isn’t quite as sustained released as pure 100% micellar casein.
In terms of sustained or “slow” released proteins, micellar casein is the king. MC has the ability to thicken into a gel or bolus-like substance in the stomach. This solid bolus then digests much more slowly, gradually releasing amino acids over a much longer period of time. These sustained proteins sources work to ensure catabolism is minimized over the longest time possible. Because of this unique property, MC is truly a potentially beneficial protein for bodybuilders.
From morning noon to night, you can use Proton 7 to help you reach your goals. Use it anytime you need a delicious, nourishing and anabolic protein shake that also helps your muscles recover faster. With added fiber, essentially fatty acids (EFA) and digestive enzymes, Proton 7 is truly a well rounded product.
