The Steve Reeves Diet

Here's Steve Reeves' diet. I've always been intrigued by how bodybuilders achieved so much with so little back in the day. I think we can learn a lot from them, especially in terms of simplicity. To this day, you can still make the argument that he had the best physique ever, and this was in an era with basic foods, rudimentary supps and little to no drugs. What do you think?

Breakfast: The Steve Reeves Power Drink consisting of:

14 ounces of freshly squeezed orange juice
1 tablespoon of Knox gelatin
1 tablespoon of honey
1 banana
2-4 raw eggs (he recommends that pasteurized eggs might be safer today)
2 tablespoons of High-Protein Powder (which he made himself)

Lunch:

cottage cheese (with a handful of nuts, raisins)
2 pieces of fresh fruit (in season)

Dinner:

1 huge salad
1 swordfish steak (or turkey, tuna, or lean ground beef)

Wow, Nice find G! I find it interesting he only had 3 meals a day. Might have know something about gelatin helping your joints as well. And really, that is not alot of food at all. Hell, I eat all that in 1 meal sometimes! lol! But agree with you that he had one of the best shapes, physiques ever. One of the guys I looked up to when I got into lifting.

Just crazy genetics and hard work to be able to eat that and build such a beautiful body.

Imagine what he could achieve with todays technology and research.

The Power Drink looks awesome. I like how he ate fresh fruits and veggies regularly too.

I agree that the diet seems to be in the 2000-2500 kcals per day range, which is pretty damn low for a guy with his size and build. Obviously he had insane genetics. But maybe we're overfeeding ourselves. I know there are guys who eat 64 oz of chicken/meat/fish per day. That seems crazy in my opinion... And I like excess. Haha.
